Eric Hymowitz is the president and owner of ROC Homes, a Houston, Texas-based firm that he established in 2002. Alongside this, Eric Hymowitz is involved in numerous professional organizations, including the National Association of Builders (NAHB), which looks to improve and advocate on behalf of the construction industry.
The NAHB has recently written to the International Codes Council (ICC) to challenge the results of the 2019 Online Governmental Consensus Vote, claiming that there are several irregularities present with International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) proposals specifically.
The organization also notes that 20 of the IECC's proposals have been approved for a new vote, despite being previously rejected. The NAHB states that this many proposals passing an online vote is an unheard-of feat in the industry, given that there is a high threshold for a rejected proposal to be reapproved for a vote.
Since no proposal has met the necessary criteria in an online vote, the NAHB believes the validity of the recent Online Governmental Consensus Vote should be called into question. As such, the organization asks the ICC to investigate the situation and take action against any potential bylaw violations.
