Pancreatic cancer occurs when the DNA strands in some cells that make up the pancreas are damaged. When the damage occurs, the faulty cells lose the information necessary to control division (become cancerous) and multiply abnormally. The cancer cells grow rapidly into tumors. Research into the exact mechanism by which chromosomal abnormality results in cancer is an active area of research at this point.

ROC Homes' dedicated team supports activities to combat pancreatic cancer through the Pancreatic Cancer Network. ROC Homes has donated resources to the Pancreatic Cancer Network in Houston on behalf of the organization to support efforts in developing a cure for pancreatic cancer.
